Walking

From Lacourarie you are ideally positioned for walks of varying distance and time on the Chemin Rurals on which the property is sited. You can decide on the route in the knowledge that you will find beautiful scenery, wildlife and fauna, and also villages with great places to stop for food and drink.

It is possible to have some real fun hiring canoes at Brantome where you can choose between a leisurely paddle with picnic on route to Bordeilles or a quick splash around the town, the choice is yours!! We are happy to book whatever sort of day you would like and it is great family fun at a reasonable cost.

Horse Racing

Going racing in France is a fun and inexpensive day out, take a picnic and enjoy the informal atmosphere and mingle with the locals.

There are three tracks close to us at Angouleme, Jarnac and our favourite at Pompadour where the racing takes place in the grounds of the Chateau which is a spectacular site. There is also a National Stud with daily guided tours.

To plan a days racing around your holiday it is a good idea to visit the French Galop web-site, on the home page click into Reunions par date/hippodrome where a list of fixtures will be displayed. There are many other courses at Bordeaux, Royan and Limoges.
